Seniors locations, rich colors and warm weather.

I spent the winter months looking out of our window at the bare tree’s and the frost frozen lawns counting the days until the tree’s were green, the flowers bloomed and yep the warm weather and the beautiful glow of the setting sun of a long hot summer’s day to create beautiful senior portraits that will melt your hearts, and put a tearful smile on the proud parents of our seniors.

Well the weather has not been playing nicely. Hey but that”s OK, because our location senior sessions are well on their way. We have shot in high sunlight, harsh winds and we still got amazing portraits. So as June fades in to July, we know the weather is going to be kind, (hot but kind.). So here is just a few of what we got in the past week or so.

This is just the start of our seniors. :)

As the weather begins to warm up, we kicked off our 2012 senior portrait sessions in the comforts of our studio, but it’s just a matter of time before we venture out into heat and glorious sunshine. Here are a few of the images from our studio shoots and one or two we took on location.

I asked Ashely how they met. Arturo smiled, Ashley giggled, We she said, ” I was hanging out in the Mall with my sister. Then I noticed Arturo as he entered the building. Pointing him out to my sister, I said my I would love to meet him.” Her sister told her no problem and walked over and started talking to him. I followed a few moments later and come to find out that she knew him. “Well that was how we met”, Ashley said. But the story didn’t end there, Ashley moved to Hawaii to help her friend with her salon, but they both kept it touch. Then out of the blue one day Arturo asked her if he sent her a ticket would she come and visit. ” Yes off course she would”, Ash told him so the ticket was sent, Ash visited and never returned to the paradise island of Hawaii. So there you have it, one became two and two became three, and we get to capture their portraits from model to couple to family. Got to love my job.

I woke up to the best e-mail I have received in a long time. Months of preparing images, going back and forth with what to and what not to submit to the regional PPA competition. Then when the competition was being judged by international judges. You are competing against the best of the best in the West coast region. I was just hoping to get on to the score board. Then I read the e-mail. Congratulations Ian you have won best portrait of man. I had to read it three times just to see if i was reading it right. Then I went to look at the calander to see if it was April the 1st. Then when I thougt it could not get any better. I was contacted again and was told I won the RR Hutchinson trophy.

I then went to the the PPA web site just to confirm the percentage and to see how my other three images did.

It is such a thrill to get such scores, especially when the judging is so hard. I am humbled and honored to be judged along side such great professional photographers. Now its on

Success stories in the making.

You know one of the pleasures, other than taking pictures, is hearing the stories of how people met. Katelyn and Brian’s story was just one of those stories that just made us smile and say, ” Now that’s what we are talking about.”

Katelyn & Brian met when they were 13 years old from middle school and always liked each other. Katelyn wasn’t allowed to date until she was 16. Brian pretty much waited until she was aloud to. They have been dating almost 3 years straight. Katelyn Said, “We went through a few things to get to where we are today, but its all been worth it and going better than ever.”

As we started shooting the young couple, we could instantly see the bond between the two of them. Its always a pleasure to capture the characters that make us unique. Its even more pleasurable when you capture that little sparkle in both the couples eyes, and its not from the flash going off either.

A Rolling Stone Carries No Moss

Today’s high pace, stay in the fast lane, don’t slow down or your get left behind is a way of life for today’s teenagers. What with the mountain of home work, exams and pushing towards collage or university, not to mention their social net and after school activities. Our little babies of yesterday have become the passionate, demanding generation that will forge the future. They know what they want they won’t settle for anything less. It seams like yesterday I was changing diapers, now two our of three of my babies are changing their little one’s diapers. How did that happen so fast?

Like everything else senior portraiture has change too. Attitude, emotion and their character is a must when capturing their senior portraits. They have some thing to say and we have some thing to capture.

In the lead up to Easter, we want to reach out to our community by giving knock down prices on our sitting fees.

So we are offering 9 family portraits sittings for $39.00 plus tax.

Don’t be fooled by the ridiculously cheap prices. Our quality and high standards, along with our camera and lighting skills are still the same, the only difference is, mini shoots are scheduled for 30-45 minutes in front of the camera. That does not mean that when you walk in to our studio we grab you and throw you on set, snap a few images of then throw you out the door. It means you will arrive at the studio, get to know us a little bit and get relaxed, then we start the photo session. That way we will get the most awesome, beautiful, emotionally charge portraits that will melt your hearts and bring a tear or two to your eye’s when you view them.
